Marvelous Mid-Wilshire Multifamily!

2025 SPECIAL SPRING TOUR
Marvelous Mid-Wilshire Multifamily!
Saturday, April 19, 2025 • 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Join us on April 19 and celebrate 1920s-1940s multifamily housing throughout Mid-Wilshire’s historic neighborhoods, a special tour offering as part of the L.A. Conservancy’s new HOME Campaign!
From bungalow courts to garden apartments to courtyards and duplexes, Angelenos have come to know and love these special places and neighborhoods, especially those developed throughout the Mid-Wilshire area of the city.
As a hallmark of Los Angeles living for more than 60% of today’s population, multifamily housing is more than a temporary place to rent. These are homes where Angelenos’ everyday lives are led and community connections formed, often providing accessible affordable housing in beautiful historic neighborhoods.
Developed as a much-needed and new form of housing to address population shifts and booms, Mid-Wilshire’s multifamily still serves a critical purpose, notably the Miracle Mile Apartments Historic District and Beverly Fairfax Historic District. Hear about their origin stories, why they were designed this way, the people these neighborhoods serve, and how older and historic multifamily—and longtime tenants—are increasingly at risk through displacement, demolition, and redevelopment.
Join us on April 19 as we explore the histories of the people and apartments that make Mid-Wilshire so unique and learn why preserving them is vital in addressing L.A.’s affordable housing crisis.
This special tour is part of the Conservancy’s new HOME Campaign, which raises awareness and visibility and advocates for L.A.’s older and historic multifamily housing, the communities it creates, and the people it serves.
Through three separate special tours on April 19th, we’re celebrating L.A.’s historic multifamily housing in the Mid-Wilshire area!
